Bhubaneswar: A week after the approval of the Governor, the Odisha government has issued a notification for the urban local body (ULB) polls.
According to the gazette notification issued by the Law Department on Monday, the reservation of the seats for the ULB polls will be kept under 50 per cent like the Panchayat polls in accordance with the amended rules.
Following the notification, the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Department will decide the date to begin the poll process.
Keeping the reorganisation of the wards and the reservation criteria, it will take 2-3 months to complete the process.
As the government is now focussing on the Panchayat polls, it is not possible to conduct the ULB polls within a short time. In view of this, the ULB polls are most likely to be conducted by June next year, sources in the HUD Department said.
