Bhubaneswar: A newly-constructed bridge over Brahmani river at Kaniha in Odisha’s Angul district will be named after freedom fighter and former Deputy Chief Minister Pabitra Mohan Pradhan.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday approved a proposal in this regard. The newly-constructed bridge will be known as Pabitra Mohan Setu, said an official release.

The 511-metre bridge, connecting Siling and Talapada Road, has been built with an expenditure of Rs 45.79 crore.

The local residents had earlier urged the state government to name the bridge project after the former Deputy Chief Minister. They had raised their demand in this regard before 5T Secretary VK Pandian during his Talcher visit last month.

It may be noted here that the state government had earlier announced that the upcoming medical college and hospital at Talcher in Angul district would be named after the former Deputy Chief Minister.
