Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Tuesday directed Regional Transport Officers (RTOs) to open more counters at their respective office premises to enable people to get the documents for their vehicles in time.
Talking to mediapersons after a video conferencing with the RTOs at the State Secretariat here, Principal Secretary, Commerce and Transport, G Srinivas said more counters will be opened at the RTO premises with additional staff. Most of the counters will deal with new driving licences and renewal of old ones.
“Apart from this, to avoid the heavy rush of people at pollution testing centres, more such centres will be opened. Besides, stern action will be taken against brokers who charge a hefty amount from the people to get their documents,” he added.
He also made it clear that despite the three-month relaxation in the checking of vehicles, no mercy will be shown to drunk drivers.
