Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday presented the first supplementary budget of the current financial year to the tune of Rs 16,800 crore in the Assembly on the first day of the winter session.
Panchayat Raj Minister Pradip Amat presented the supplementary statement of expenditure for 2022-23 on behalf of Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari.
After the supplementary budget was tabled amid uproar in the Assembly, the house proceedings were adjourned till Friday.
Keeping in view the needs and expectations of the people, the supplementary budget is aimed at fulfilling the requirement of funds for public welfare and development activities in the state.
The Supplementary provision of Rs 9,200 crore under Programme Expenditure is to be financed by tied-up resources to the extent of Rs 2,066 crore and through additional revenue collection and savings to the extent of Rs 7,134 crore.
As per the supplementary budget, Rs 306.65 crore has been allocated for irrigation facilities, farmers’ welfare and food security and Rs 91 crore was provisioned for Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY).
A sum of Rs 867 crore is allocated for public health care. This includes Rs 638 crore for Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana and Rs 68 crore for Infrastructure Development of Health Institutions at primary health centres, district headquarters hospitals and medical colleges.
A total sum of Rs 172 crore is allocated for the empowerment of women and child development.
Moreover, Rs 552 crore has been allocated for rural housing, wage employment, provision of drinking water and rural infrastructure.
Rs 388 crore has been allocated for Energy, IT, Commerce, Transport and R&D sectors. Out of this Rs 49 crore is provided as Financial assistance to OSRTC and Rs 188 crore is provided for the construction of bus terminals and related infrastructure.
Rs 128 crore has been allocated for the promotion of culture and tourism. Out of this, Rs 99 crore is provided for tourist information and publicity and Rs 25 crore is provided for the directorate of culture.
