Bhubaneswar: In order to increase voluntary blood donation in remote areas, the Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited has procured two more blood collection vans.
Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Health & Family Welfare Niranjan Pujari inaugurated the two new blood collection vans on Monday.
The vans are equipped with donor couch, blood storage refrigerator, blood collection monitor, blood bag sealer and ancillaries such as generator and inverter. The two vans have been procured with a total cost of Rs 1,09,43,400.
The government has already supplied 14 mobile blood collection vans to different medical colleges and district headquarter hospitals.
Nine such vans were supplied to the Blood Banks of SCB MC&H- Cuttack, MKCG MC&H- Berhampur, VIMSAR-Burla, DHH-Balangir, SLNMC&H-Koraput, DHH-Baripada, DHH- Balasore, DHH-Bargarh and RGH Rourkela in November 2019.
Subsequently, 5 vans were supplied in March, 2023 to the Blood Banks of DHH-Angul, DHH-Jharsuguda, DHH-Kandhamal and DHH-Keonjhar.
