Bhubaneswar: In another step towards conducting the elections to urban local bodies (ULBs), the state government on Wednesday released the reservation list of wards in all municipalities and NACs.
As per the list released by the Home and Urban Development Department, out of total 1,756 wards in municipalities and Notified Area Councils (NACs) in the state, 668 wards have been declared unreserved.
While 122 wards have been reserved for scheduled caste (SC) community, 49 are reserved for scheduled tribe councillor candidates.
In line with its police to include the women in policy-making decisions in the administration, the government has reserved 613 wards in all civic bodies reserved for women.
Similarly, 171 wards have been reserved for SC women and 133 for ST women.
The government had released ward reservation lists for the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) in December last year.
While the elections to the ULBs have not been conducted since 2018, the government plans to hold those after the panchayat elections.
