Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to rename the annual award in the Gitikabita category of the Sangeet Natak Akademi after noted filmmaker, music director and lyricist Sarada Prasanna Nayak, who passed away recently.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced the Sarada Prasanna Gitikabita Samman in recognition of Nayak’s contribution to Odia cinema, according to a CMO release on Saturday.
The prize money of the award has also been increased to Rs 2.5 lakh, the release added.
Nayak had passed away on September 9 at the age of 94.
