Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is all set to introduce a notebook system in schools across the state to update guardians on teaching and students’ progress.

The proposed mechanism will be similar to the diary system followed in private schools.

Announcing this in Bhubaneswar on Saturday, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash said that the government plans to distribute notebooks to students across the state.

The proposed system will play a significant role in bridging the communication gap between teachers and parents of students, the Minister said.

The homework of the students, school activities and other  happenings in the student’s life will find place in the notebook so that the parents and guardians can keep themselves updated, Dash said.

Teachers will also put their remarks regarding the students in the notebook and parents will check the progress of their children.

The announcement comes a day after the state budget saw a 10 per cent rise in the allocation on education and skill development sector at Rs 30,030 crore from the previous budget.

The notebook will be a source of information to the guardians regarding the academic activities and homework of their children. Apart from academic activities, the notebook will also contain details of holidays, school programs, emergency phone numbers, and details of teachers.
