Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government spent Rs 247.36 crore for the distribution of jute bags across the state before general elections 2024, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra said in the Assembly on Wednesday.
The minister was replying to Jagatsinghpur MLA Amarendra Das’ question on government expenditure for jute bags manufacturing and distribution in all constituencies of Odisha.
Additionally, Rs 1,000 was provided to each household as financial assistance amounting to a total expenditure of Rs 959.05 crore. However, now there is no provision for providing the bags and assistance to those who have not received those, the Minister said.
