Bhubaneswar: Mrutyunjaya Patra, a 49-year-old government employee, is admitted in the ICU at Apollo Hospitals in the city.
He is on ventilator support and doctors have recommended ECMO treatment as the last option. His lungs involvement is around 90 per cent, according to hospital reports.
Mrutyunjaya, who is employed with the Odisha State Housing Board, had tested positive for COVID-19 on June 10 and was admitted to the hospital on on June 16.
Doctors confirmed that he is suffering from acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) due to COVID-19. Till July 6, he was kept on NIV oxygen support and on July 7, he was put on a ventilator.
The family has already spent around Rs 20 lakh, according to his nephew Manoranjan Jena. They are seeking Rs 50 lakh for further treatment.
