Odisha Govt Targets To Cover 50,000 Schools Under ‘Mo School Abhiyan’ By 2022-End

Bhubaneswar: The state government has set a target to cover 50,000 schools under ‘Mo School Abhiyan’ by the end of 2022.

This was revealed by principal secretary, School and Mass Education department, Satyabrata Sahu at the executive council meeting of ‘Mo School’ on Thursday. Chairing the meeting on virtual mode, Sahu said all government and government-aided schools have been directed to join the Mo School Abhiyan.

Sahu directed the schools, which have received financial grants, to speed up the project works. Those which have not started the work were told to return the funds.

Stating that special alumni events will be held in 58,000 schools from January 26 to 31, he said decisions are being taken to incorporate non-core activities in Mo School. It would facilitate the schools to outsource the manpower for maintenance of infrastructure, sanitation and cleanliness in the campus, security, computer handholding, spoken English, art, music and dance.

The executive council meeting approved ₹18.30 crore projects in 23 districts. It was also revealed that total 6.27 lakh alumni have been connected with Mo School including 11,000 last month.

They have provided ₹4.86 crore towards development of their schools while ₹1.23 crore has been received from various CSR funds.
