Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will launch mobile medicare units and open physiotherapy centres for senior citizens in all 30 districts of the state.
This was stated by Ashok Chandra Panda, Minister for Social Security and Empowerment of PwDs while addressing a virtual programme organised by the Department of SSEPD on the occasion of International Day of Older Persons on Saturday.
Stating that facility of online grievance registration and redressal under 5T initiative is being provided to senior citizens, he said training will be imparted for geriatric care giving at the physiotherapy centres. Besides, the department is working along with UNDP to extend digital literacy to the senior citizens, he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhaskar Sarma, Commissioner, SSEPD department elaborated the theme of this year’s International Day of Older Persons, “Resilience of Older People in a Changing World”. Bratati Harichandan, Director of the department spoke on “Abadana” scheme of the government which is meant for the welfare of senior citizens.
