Bhubaneswar: Odisha government will launch probe into the anti-people activities of former bureaucrat and BJD leader V K Pandian, said senior BJP leader Jaynarayan Mishra on Tuesday.
Speaking to mediapersons in Bhubaneswar, Mishra said Pandian was involved in the activities against the interests of the state government only for his personal gains. Necessary actions would be taken against him, he added.
On the evidence against Pandian, he said, “It is the responsibility of the investigating agency which would be directed to take up the probe. Besides, many evidences are already in the public domain and we need not bother about those.”
When asked about whether former chief minister Naveen Patnaik would come under the purview of investigation, Mishra said since Pandian was doing on his direction, the BJD president may also face the probing authorities.
On his reaction to 5T initiative, headed by Pandian, the BJP leader said. “It (5T) is a part of governance. All governments follow its five principles and the present government will also follow it. But we will neither make a propaganda of it nor spend money for its advertisement,” he said.
On the factors responsible for the defeat of BJD, which was in power for 24 years, in the elections, the Sambalpur MLA said the foremost reason was its non-performance. “While other states progressed to new heights, Odisha remained backward only for poor performance of the state government. Besides, unemployment, neglect of farmers and agriculture sector and a host of other factors led to the BJD’s downfall,” he added.
