Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government had decided to provide land ownership to homesteadless families, including the poor and tribals living on forest land without pattas, by December.
Accordingly, a fresh survey will be conducted from August 16 to September 15 to identify the eligible beneficiaries, the review meeting chaired by Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari decided on Friday.
Source said that the poor, living in cities or villages, will get land measuring four decimal within a dedicated timeframe. District collectors have been instructed to initiate the enumeration process immediately and complete it by December 31.
The government has also decided to provide immediate land pattas to 2,276 homeless families who were identified in the 2018 survey.
Additionally, educational institutions have been instructed to ensure that government land is properly recorded in their names and that they take possession of it.
