Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has announced to provide cashless treatment to the officials on election duty, who suffer from heat stroke, at private hospitals empanelled under its Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY).

Shalini Pandit, secretary, Health and Family Welfare department, in an official letter to the private hospitals empanelled under the BSKY in the state on Wednesday, said the officials, who are affected by heat while on duty during the simultaneous elections to Lok Sabha and Assembly, will be provided the medical service.

“In addition to all BSKY package treatments, all persons on election duty will also be provided cashless treatment in empanelled private hospitals in case of heat stroke during the ensuing simultaneous General Elections, 2024,” said Pandit in the letter.

The polling officials will be provided free treatment by producing their appointment/engagement order for the election duty. “In such cases, the affected personnel are to be provided with immediate cashless treatment,” the letter stated.

The empanelled private hospitals can encash the bill towards treatment of such officials in offline mode as per BSKY package rates from State Health Assurance Society, the secretary said.
