Bubaneswar: The Odisha government is all set to launch a recruitment drive to appoint 20,000 junior teachers and fill many vacant posts, it was officially stated on Wednesday.
Confirming the decision, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash told reporters in Bhubaneswar that steps are being taken to recruit 20,000 junior teachers.
The Minister’s statement came shortly after the Information and Public Relations department in a twitter post said that extensive steps have been taken by the School and Mass Education (S&ME) department for the recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff.
Around 20 thousand vacant posts of junior teachers in primary schools will be filled up, it said.
Surces said trained candidates will be appointed as junior teachers to impart quality education to students in primary schools as part of a scheme-based engagement.
As per the I & PR department, the process to fill up the posts of 7540 secondary teachers is being undertaken by the Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC). Besides, the process to fill up 6025 LTR teachers is also underway.
The state government has also approved the relaxation of residency period to facilitate the promotion of 54,000 senior teachers and headmasters in the state.
The government has also initiated the process for the appointment of 1799 junior assistants in secondary schools, district and block education offices.
This apart, Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has started the process to recruit 335 teaching staff in higher secondary schools in the state. As many as 1543 Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) will also be recruited in fully-aided higher secondary schools.
In the first phase, the Service Selection Board (SSB) has already initiated process for appointment of 555 PGTs.
