Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government is set to release a standard operating procedure (SOP) for the much talked about ‘Subhadra Yojana’ on August 15.
Giving this information on Saturday, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida told media that once the SOP is released, a clear picture regarding the modalities and format of the scheme will emerge.
Eligibility for availing benefits under the scheme will get clarity, she said, adding that women belonging to the higher income group are unlikely to be eligible for the scheme.
Noting that those paying income tax are likely to be denied benefit under the scheme, said Parida, who also holds Women and Child Development portfolio. Aadhaar card is the most important document required for getting benefit of the scheme.
Though Rs 10,000 crore has been allocated for the scheme in the budget, the amount may be increased, if required, the Deputy CM said.
Notably, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has already announced that Subhadra Yojana will be rolled out in Odisha on September 17, coinciding with the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The CM had said that the Prime Minister has been requested to launch the scheme in Odisha under which women will get Rs 50,000 cash voucher each. Around 5 lakh women will attend the event.
The first cabinet meeting of the BJP government chaired by the CM had approved a proposal to roll out the scheme in 100 days. It was a key promise in the Odisha BJP manifesto for 2024 elections.
