Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: The state government has decided to set up a burn unit at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
The decision follows the electrocution of 10 passengers after a private bus had come in contact with a live wire at Golanthara near Berhampur in Ganjam district on Sunday,
On Monday, Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Das said seven seriously injured passengers (five women and two men) were referred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack because there is no burn unit at MKCG Medical College. “The state government has taken note of this matter and decided to set up a burn unit at MKCG hospital very soon,” he added.
Meanwhile, the emergency officer at SCB, Bhubanananda Maharana, said the condition of one patient is critical. “We have kept six beds in the ICU ready for these patients and will admit them if their condition becomes critical,” he informed.
