Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday transferred IPS officer Ashish Kumar Singh and posted him as OSD in the Home Department.
A notification issued by the Home Department stated that Singh, a 2004-batch IPS officer is transferred and posted as OSD, Home Department with immediate effect.
Notably, the Home Department had on June 27 sought whereabouts of Ashish Singh. The next day, Odisha DGP Arun Kumar Sarangi stated that Singh had resumed duty in special intelligence wing on June 3.
Singh was sanctioned leave from May 4 to June 2 and accordingly joined back on June 3, the DGP had said.
It may be noted that the Election Commission of India (ECI) had directed Singh to appear before a board of AIIMS-Bhubaneswar for a health check-up following complaints from the BJP that the IPS officer was working in favour of the BJD in polls though he was on sick leave.
After a six-member board of the AIIMS submitted its report stating that Singh was mentally and physically fit, the Election Commission had written to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha to forward the AIIMS report to the Chief Secretary for necessary action against the IPS officer.
