Bhubaneswar: Members of All Odisha GPLF (Gram Panchayat Level Federation) Mission Shakti staged a massive protest in Bhubaneswar on Monday to press for their nine-point charter of demands including job regularisation and pay hike.
A large number of slogan-shouting women, who staged a demonstration carrying placards and banners on Mahatma Gandhi Marg, threatened to intensify their protest if their demands are not met at the earliest.
The GPLF, comprising women Self Help Groups (SHGs) at the Gram Panchayat level, provides a common platform for member groups to voice their grievances. The members of the federation, however, alleged that they are underpaid.
The nine-point charter of demands include permanent job for all community support staff (CSS), pay hike, transport costs, mission shakti card, dress code and reimbursement of mobile phone bills.
The protesters said they also want payment of additional bonus and inclusion under the ESIC scheme.
Leaders of the demonstrators said women from all districts of the state including interior areas have assembled for the protest in Bhubaneswar.
