Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Health and Family Welfare department has urged the Housing and Urban Development department to explore opening of Aahaar Kendras in 93 hospitals covered under Ama Hospital scheme.
In a letter to the Principal Secretary of Housing & Urban Development department, Health Secretary Salini Pandit said the state government has earlier decided to transform as many as 147 health institutes under Ama Hospital scheme.
Out of the 147 hospitals, Aahaar Kendras are currently functioning in 54 hospitals. So the health department has urged the H&UD department to explore the setting up of Aahaar Kendras in the remaining 93 hospitals to be transformed.
It has been reported that in all the hospitals of the state, Aahaar Kendras are functioning for six days in a week and remain closed on Sundays. “As patients come to government hospitals on all days of the week, we have also urged to consider running Aahaar Kendras attached to public health facilities for seven days a week,” the letter added.
