Sambalpur: The Hirakud Dam in Odisha’s Sambalpur district reached its peak capacity of 630 feet, with the water level currently standing at maximum height.
Till 9 am on Saturday water inflow into Hirakud dam was 56,392 cusecs, while the outflow through canals, to industries, and for power generation was 37,334 cusecs, sources said.
Officials said all sluice gates at Hirakud Dam have been closed due to decreased rainfall in the upper catchment area of Mahanadi river.
The gates will open as and when rainfall resumes, sources added.
