Berhampur: Even as police continue to probe deeper into the reasons behind the death of IIC of Deb Kumar Gamang, IIC of Gangapur police station in Ganjam district, who died of the bullet injuries on Friday, his mother has revealed shocking details.
Deb’s mother claimed that two policemen, other than her son, were present in the house when the incident took place. Gamang had died of bullet injuries which he sustained from his own service rifle at his official quarters.
The deceased IIC’s mother told mediapersons on Saturday that two police personnel (with three star rank officers) were present with Gamang at home when the incident took place.
The 40-year-old police officer did not report to work on the day. She had informed a SI of Gangapur police station that he was unwell and has also requested for a doctor to be sent to their quarters. She told reporters that she suspected her son was feeling uneasy due to blood pressure. A doctor had visited the IIC’s official quarters and gave him some medicines.
Informing about the police personnel visit, she said two police personnel (three-star rank officers) were with Gamang at home and had asked her to leave the room, which she did. Minutes later, she heard gunshots and saw Gamang lying in a pool of blood, the shaken mother of the IIC told mediapersons.
The IIC had sustained bullet injuries on his waist.
