Bhubaneswar: Intense spell of rain in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack is likely to continue for another 30 minutes, the office Special Relief Commissioner, Odisha, informed on Monday.
The Meteorological Centre here has also issued heavy/intense spell warning for the two cities till 7 pm. “Generally cloudy sky with a few spells of rain/thundershower and one or two intense spell (2- 3 cm/hr) very likely to continue over Bhubaneswar and Cuttack city areas.”
It has warned of temporary traffic congestion, waterlogging in low-lying areas and poor visibility during intense spells of rain. Avoid movement in the affected area, it added.
The weather agency had earlier issued orange warning of moderate rain/thundershower with lightning and one or two intense/heavy spell of rain is likely in some parts of Jagatsinghpur, Khurda (including Bhubaneswar), Cuttack (including Cuttack city), Jajpur, Kendrapada and Balasore till 8 pm.
Notably, the IMD has issued issued orange warning of heavy to very heavy rain (7 to 20cm) for isolated places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak till 8.30 am on Tuesday. Heavy rainfall (7 to 11cm) is also likely at one or two places in Jajpur, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, and Koraput.
The intensity of rain is likely to increase in next two days under the influence of the well-marked low pressure area over North Bay of Bengal, which is likely to move northwestwards and concentrate into a Depression during next 12 hours,
