Bhubaneswar: A day after Odisha reported 58 new cases of COVID-19, the Health and Family Welfare Department’s spokesperson, Dr Jayant Kumar Panda, on Sunday warned that the state is on the threshold of Stage III transmission of the deadly virus.
Dr Panda said the number of corona patients in Odisha has gone up alarmingly with the return of migrant workers from hotspots such as of Ahmedabad, Surat and Mumbai.
“While thousands of migrant workers are scheduled to arrive from these areas in the coming days, the number of COVID-19 positive case will witness an exponential rise. Given the situation, the state is gradually inching towards Stage III,” he said.
