Bhubaneswar: While a woman died after allegedly being attacked by her husband with a steel bucket in Odisha’s Balasore district, a man was detained by police on Monday for allegedly causing injuries daughter-in-law after a fight in Cuttack district.
According to sources, Bidyadhar Malti of Banida village under Jaleswar police limits had an altercation with his wife, Kalpana, when he returned home in an inebriated state last night. He attacked his wife with a bucket this morning, killing her on the spot. Police have sent the body for postmortem and detained Bidyadhar for questioning.
The other incident took place at Gobara village under Gurudijhatia police limits in Cuttack district. Amar Nayak found his granddaughter playing with a knife at their house and asked her to drop it. When she did not listen, he allegedly beat her up. Seeing her daughter getting thrashed, Nini rushed to the spot and a war of words ensured thereafter. In a fit of rage, the accused father-in-law then attacked her with the same knife, inflicting injuries to her nose.
While the woman was rushed to a hospital and police detained her father-in-law for questioning.
