Dhenkanal: The Dhenakanal district administration has imposed Section 144 at Biribolei Janata Government High School under Parjang police limits and 15 15 other centre to stop malpractice during the ongoing matric examination.

It would be in place till the end of the examination.

The decision was taken after some parents were spotted providing cheat sheets to the students during the English examination at the school on Saturday. Police had to resort to lathicharge to disperse them.

Kankadahada Block Education Officer (BEO) Harihar Dehury said the district administration is making all the efforts for smooth conduct of the examination. “Adequate security personnel will be deployed in the school during the remaining exams, which will be held in the presence of cops and magistrate,” he added.

District education officer Nibedita Pani said that the prohibitory order has been invoked at Biribolei Janata Government High School and the Kamakhyanagar Sub-Collector has been asked to impose Section 144 at 11 centres.

The section has also been imposed at two centres in Dudurkote and Rasol and another two centres in Radhadeipur and Nuagarh in Dhenkanal sub-division.

These centres are now displaying red flags with adequate deployment of police forces.

On Sunday, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash had said: “Parents supplying copy is unacceptable and the administration is taking adequate steps in this regard.”

Meanwhile, Secretary of Board Of Secondary Education (BSE), Srikant Kumar Tarai has written to Cuttack DCP Akhileshvar Singh and Cuttack (Rural) SP R.B. Panigrahi for deployment of additional forces at five schools in Cuttack district.
