Bhubaneswar: A day after the Supreme Court allowed the return of Odia migrant workers to their home state amid the lockdown, the Odisha government on Saturday said that the workers will arrive in the state by special trains in a phased manner.
Commerce and Transport Minister Padmanabha Behera said that special trains carrying the Odia workers from Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat will arrive in the state in phases.
“As the Odisha government has told the neighbouring states not to allow the migrant workers to travel in buses due to the series of road mishaps, arrangements have been made for their return by trains. We are in touch with the neighbouring states and the Railways to ensure the safe return of the migrant workers,” the minister added.
