Bhubaneswar: The Crime Branch (CB) of Odisha Police on Friday conducted the second round of polygraph tests on Gopal Das, the accused in Health Minister Naba Das’ murder case.
According to a release of the Crime Branch, the polygraph test was conducted at the Directorate of Forensic Science in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar. The CB would also perform a narco-analysis on the dismissed ASI test after a detailed medical examination.
The CB had taken Gopal to Gujarat on February 8. It has taken him on remand for five days for detailed investigation and tests.
Though Gopal has reportedly confessed to have killed the minister, the CB is yet to ascertain why he did so. In order to know the motive behind the crime, the investigating agency is conducting the tests.
Earlier, a team from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory, New Delhi, had conducted a forensic psychological assessment and layered voice analysis test of Gopal at Jharsuguda. A special medical board, comprising psychiatry doctors, also conducted a detailed study of the mental health of the accused in Jharsuguda and the report is awaited.
An eight-member team led by the investigating officer of the case DSP Ramesh Chandra Dora is camping in Gandhinagar. Crime Branch ADG Arun Bothra is also there to monitor the investigation.
