Bhubaneswar: Corruption to the tune of Rs 147 crore allegedly took place in 18 Central Cooperative Banks in Odisha, Cooperation Minister Pradeep Bal Samanta informed the state Assembly on Wednesday.
Responding to a query in the State Assembly, the Minister said that Rs 14 crore has been recovered from the aforementioned amount and action has been taken against 521 persons in these cases of misappropriation.
According to the Minister, corruption to the tune of Rs 32.23 crore has been reported in Sundargarh, while Sambalpur has reported Rs 30 crore misappropriation in the Cooperative banks.
Similarly, misappropriation of Rs 17 crore in Keonjhar, Rs 10 crore in Berhampur, and Rs 9 crore each in Banki and Balasore cooperative banks have been reported so far, the Minister said.
