Sambalpur: Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari on Saturday made a surprise visit to the office of Sambalpur Sadar Tehsildar and found that the latter’s chamber was not opened for months.
After much efforts keys were found and the tehsildar’s chamber was opened following which Pujari reviewed activities of the office. The mismanagement at the office was more than the grievances it received, he said after an inspection.
Pujari who was on a visit to Sambalpur said there were many complaints about functioning of Sadar tehsil office after which he decided to check the facts. “The office has not been cleaned for days and the wall clock is running late. Nothing seems to be in order,” he said.
There was no system of public hearing in the tehsil office, said Pujari adding that he was disturbed to learn about the timeline of mutation cases from petitioners and lawyers.
The minister issued strict instructions to the tehsildar who was on a field visit to get things in order and asked the collector to submit monthly report on functioning of tehsil offices in the district.
“I have asked them to mend their ways or face action,” the Minister said.
