Bhubaneswar: The second round of polygraph tests would be conducted on the lone accused in Health Minister Naba Das’ murder case, Gopal Das, at the Directorate of Forensic Science in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar on Friday. He would also undergo a narco-analysis test after a detailed medical examination, sources said.
Gopal, who was captured laughing nonchalantly at Jharsuguda airport on Wednesday, reportedly thanked the Crime Branch, which is probing the firing incident, for his maiden flight to Gujarat. “It made him feel like a VIP and he expressed his happiness for having been taken on the flight. He was a little scared but kept smiling and peeping out of the window all through the journey,” TOI quoted a policeman accompanying him as saying.
The Crime Branch had earlier claimed he was showing no signs of remorse or repentance. He would often smile while reading the news on him in custody, sources said.

While the Crime Branch is yet to ascertain the motive behind the murder, Gopal has reportedly been insisting on a press conference where he can speak his mind and reveal the reason behind pulling the trigger on the health minister.
Gopal had shown no aggression, change in behaviour or nervousness while managing to go close to the minister to shoot him at Brajarajnagar in Jharsuguda district on January 29 and looked pretty cool and composed during interrogation and walked confidently as policemen took him to the court, the sources added.
Notably, an eight-member team led by the case’s investigating officer DSP Ramesh Chandra Dora is camping in Gandhinagar. Crime Branch ADG Arun Bothra is also in the Gujarat capital to monitor the investigation.
earlier, a team from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory, New Delhi, had conducted a forensic psychological assessment and layered voice analysis test of Gopal at Jharsuguda. A special medical board, comprising psychiatry doctors, also conducted a detailed study of the mental health of the accused in Jharsuguda and the report is awaited.
