Puri: Tension erupted in Pipili after the body of a missing boy was found on railway tracks in Nuapada of Puri district on Thursday.
Some locals spotted the body and informed the family who resorted to road block. The minor boy is Soumya Ranjan Jena of Matiapada village in Gobindapur near Pipili. He was studying in Class X in Gobindapur High School.
According to reports, the family members of the boy and villagers staged staged road block with the body near Pipili toll gate on NH 316 disrupting vehicular movement. They after demanding immediate arrest of the accused.
Pipili SDPO Debadutta Baral and IIC reached the spot and assured action against the culprits. They also requested the people to call off the blockade as hundreds of commuters were stuck on either side of the road.
Police have seized the body and sent it for post-mortem.
Soumya went missing on March 7 even after which his maternal grandfather, Budhanath Pradhan, filed a complaint with Kausalyaganga Police Outpost.
Police had initiated a search and were looking for the whereabouts of Soumya when his body was spotted by some locals on the railway tracks at Nuapada .
His identity card was found from his school bag following which his school authorities and maternal family were informed. They reached at the spot and identified the body.
