Bhubaneswar: Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahi arrived at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office on Monday to depose in a money laundering case.
A few days ago, the MLA’s daughter, Shruti Panigrahi, was grilled by ED for six hours.
Panigrahi is facing money laundering charges in a Tata Motors job fraud case. The MLA faces allegations of collecting money on behalf of Akash Kumar Pathak, son of suspended IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak, with the promise to provide them jobs in the company.
The MLA arrived at the ED office at 10 am. Talking to mediapersons outside the office, he said, “I respect the law and will fully cooperate with the investigation, the ED is doing its work.”
“It’s usual procedure under the law. We are citizens and have to follow the country’s established laws and procedures so that the investigation process is completed,” he said.
“I leave it to the expectations of the public and the law of the land. I have no reservation in facing the ED,” he said.
The MLA had been served three summonses earlier to appear before the ED but he had failed to do so citing health grounds.
