Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday expressed deep grief at the passing away of veteran Odia film personality Ajit Das.
Describing him as a genius, the chief minister said that he has left an indelible mark in Odia film industry as a versatile actor and director.
“A former head of the department of drama at Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya, the demise of Ajit Das has created a great void in the Odia film industry which will take years to fill. Ajit Das will continue to live in the hearts of innumerable cine lovers of Odisha,” he added.
Naveen also conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Das breathed his last at a private hospital this afternoon. He had tested positive for COVID-19 on September 1 and was under treatment.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan also mourned the death of noted the Odia film actor.
BJP leader and former Kendrapada MP Baijayant Panda also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
