Cuttack: Generosity of actor-turned-politician and parliamentarian from Odisha Anubhav Mohanty came to the fore when he reached out to a poor trolley puller in Salipur area of Cuttack district and offered him to buy a new trolley a couple of days ago.
Sources said the Kendrapada MP visited Salipur to attend a programme. After garlanding the statue of legendary Biju Patnaik, he was talking to local people when his attention was drawn to an elderly poor man who was then toiling to pull the load on his rickety trolley.
On seeing the sight, Anubhav turned emotional and tears welled up in his eyes. He beckoned the 70-year-old Arjuni Samal of Lunahar village.
The Lok Sabha member lent a patient hearing of Samal who narrated his plight and hardship in running the family at the fag end of life. He has been earning his livelihood by pulling the trolley. “For the last six months, my trolley has been in need of repair. Yet I have been managing with the old trolley,” he told the MP.
Anubhav assured the septuagenarian of financial of help to buy him a new trolley and to meet his other requirements. This became the talk of the town with various quarters all praise for the MP for his magnanimity.
