Odisha MP’s Gesture Respecting People’s Mandate At Polling Booth Wins Hearts

Berhampur: Member of Parliament from Aska, Pramila Bisoyi bowed to the ballot box, her forehead touching the floor of the booth, and later stood there with folded hands for some time as a mark of respect to the democracy when she went to vote during the fifth phase of Panchayat elections in Ganjam district on Thursday.

Bisoyi bowed in respect for democracy after entering a booth in Cheramaria panchayat under Aska block where she went to cast her vote. In Aska block elections are being held for 4 Zilla Parishad (ZP) seats across 27 GPS.

Bisoyi was fielded by BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for the Lok Sabha seat in 2019 general elections and she went on to win by a good margin.

Back in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi (then a PM designate) marked his first visit to Parliament’s Central Hall by bowing on the steps of the entrance to the building before entering it. After alighting from the car, Modi had bent his forehead and touched the steps.
