Malkangiri: Petrol turned costlier in the tribal-dominated Malkangiri of Odisha than major cities in the state and the country on Wednesday.
The petrol was sold at Rs 110.45 in Kalimela, which is less than 40 km from Malkangiri town, Rs 108.85 in Mathili, 50 km from the district headquarters and Rs 108.56 in Malkangiri town on the day.
But the petrol cost Rs 103.82 per litre in Bhubaneswar, Rs 104.11 in Cuttack, Rs 100.49 in Chennai, Rs 102.94 in New Delhi, Rs 103.65 in Kolkata and Rs 108.96 in Mumbai. The petroleum fuel was sold at Rs 99.09 in Chandigarh and Rs 111.45, the highest in the country, in Bhopal.
Interestingly, the petrol was sold at less than Rs 7-8 across the border in Chhattisgarh which was less than 10 km from the district.
It may be noted that the petrol price went up for second day on Wednesday as it zoomed in the international market.
