Bhubaneswar: Emirates 2022 World Stamp Exhibition was held at the Dubai Exhibition Centre on January 19-23.
Organised by the Emirates Post Group in collaboration with the Emirates Philatelic Association, the international exhibition showcased some of the best collections in the world. The participation of five members of the Eastern India Philatelists’ Association in different classes, and each winning medals and honours is a matter of pride for the state.
Shanti Swarup Rath, the incumbent Secretary of the Eastern India Philatelic Association, got a Large Vermeil for his exhibit on postal history of “French India Settlements”. Anup Kumar Raut too was awarded Large Vermeil for his exhibit “Early India Cancellations”. Om Prakash Jagati was awarded with a Large Vermeil for his exhibit “From Cloud to Ocean”.
Rahul Ganguly and Biswanath Mishra were awarded bronze medals for their exhibits. Mishra’s exhibit on horses titled “Equidae: the symbol of Speed” was unique and portrayed horses as shown on postage stamps.
Odisha is now a prominent state with eminent philatelists, many of whom have been awarded medals both in India and abroad. EIPA has emerged as a frontline philatelic association with nationwide membership. Besides contributing a lot to the spreading of the hobby, many important publications have been made by its members.
