Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police has warned the people against mob violence and lynching as it would lead to severe punishment.
Citing an order of the Supreme Court, the Odisha Police, in a release on Monday, said, “The Supreme Court while hearing WP (C) No-754/2016 has made it clear that lynching and mob violence of any kind shall invite serious consequence under law.”
Considering the announcement of the apex court, the Odisha Police said the public should not indulge in any kind of mob violence and lynching which would invite stringent action against all the perpetrators of such crime in accordance with the law of the land.
“Every member of the mob or conspirator of such crime will be subjected to severe punishment,” the police said in an appeal issued in public interest.
