Jajpur: As many as 14 candidates of different political parties and Independents filed their nomination papers in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Friday.
The candidates along with their supporters went in their processions to the office of district collector and submitted their nomination papers on the auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya. They included 10 nominees from political parties and 4 Independent candidates.
BJP’s five candidates for different Assembly constituencies including cine actor Akash Das Nayak filed the papers. While the party nominee Gautam Ray filed the nomination for Jajpur Assembly seat, Akash Das Nayak filed for Korai, Amar Nayak for Badchana, Pradip Bal Samant for Sukinda and Umesh Jena for Bari seat.
The saffron party’s candidate for Jajpur Lok Sabha seat Dr Rabindra Narayan Behera also went with his supporters to file the nomination papers.
The BJD nominees Pritiranjan Ghadei and actress Varsha Priyadarshini filed their nominations for Sukinda and Badchana Assembly seats respectively.
Similarly, Debasish Nayak and Ajay Kumar Samal filed their papers for Bari and Badchana respectively as Congress candidates on the day.
