Bhubaneswar: After resignation of two chief advisors to chief minister’s office in Odisha, Manoj Kumar Mishra, principal secretary, Electronics and IT department, resigned from his post on Thursday.

In an official order, the General Administration department said the resignation of Manoj Kumar Mishra, principal secretary, Electronics and IT department, has been accepted by the government with effect from June 4.

Mishra, a 2000-batch IRTS officer, was appointed by the BJD government as Principal Secretary to the Electronics and Information Technology department on contractual basis in 2022. He had resigned from the IRTS while he was working on deputation to the state.

Earlier in the day, retired senior IAS officers Suresh Chandra Mahapatra and R Balakrishnan had resigned as Chief Advisors to the chief minister’s office (CMO). Mahapatra was posted as Chief Advisor to the CMO and Balakrishnan as Chief Advisor, Special Initiatives.

Naveen Patnaik had submitted his resignation as Chief Minister to Governor Raghubar Das after BJD failed to get majority of MLA seats in the election to the state Assembly. The BJP, which bagged 78 seats in 147-member Assembly, is all set to form the government in the state on June 10.

After the election results were declared on June 4, Naveen submitted his resignation as per the norms. However, the Governor requested him to remain in charge as the caretaker Chief Minister until the new government assumes office.
