Bhubaneswar: The settlement dues of Prabhudutta Behera, a senior goods train guard at Khurda Road who died while on duty on January 28, were cleared within three days to avoid any hardship to his family members, an ECoR press release said.
On the fateful day, he was found lying unconscious in the brake van of the good runs and was declared brought dead at the railway hospital. He is survived by his wife, two sons and one married daughter.
Show solidarity with the bereaved family, the divisional administration decided to ensure that the “other than normal retirement settlement (ONR)” be fully made on January 31 along with other normal retirement cases.
The Personnel and Finance departments worked in tandem to ensure that all settlement payments, including Pension Pay Order (PPO), is made despite banks remaining closed on January 30. The Divisional Railway Manager, Khurda Road, Shashi Kant Singh, provided support and ensured that there was no system setback in processing the settlement case. He personally handed over the the settlement papers along with PPO to his family, the release added.
