Bhubaneswar: In wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Odisha has registered a 58 per cent drop in motor vehicle tax collection in the first quarter of 2020 from April to June.
According to the State Transport Authority (STA), Rs 159.8 crore in tax was collected from April to June this year as against the Rs 384 crore collected during the same period last year, a drop of Rs 224.2 crore..
Similarly, the sale of vehicles has also decreased significantly during the period due to the lockdown. The STA said that around 29,000 vehicles were sold in Odisha up to July 20.
