Bhubaneswar: A Special Vigilance Court at Odisha’s Jeypore on Thursday sentenced a retired marketing inspector and his wife to two years of rigorous imprisonment in connection with a disproportionate assets case.
Prafulla Chandra Panigrahi, former marketing inspector at Kashipur in Rayagada district, and his wife Renubala Panigrahi also have to pay Rs 10,000 penalty each. In case of non-payment of the fine amount, they have to spend 3 more months in jail.
Following the conviction, the Vigilance department will now move the competent authority for stopping Panigrahi’s pension, an official release said.
