Bhubaneswar: A total of 1,610 schools of the state have joined the ‘Mo School’ campaign and contributed over Rs 2.4 crore for development of schools.
This was revealed at the 18th executive council meeting of the ‘Mo School’ management organisation chaired by principal secretary, School & Mass Education department Satyabrata Sahoo through virtual mode on Friday.
While alumni of the schools in 25 districts have contributed Rs 2,46,90,020, the government has sanctioned its double amount of Rs 4,93,80,040. Gajapati district has mobilised the highest amount of over Rs 56 lakh, according to an official release. The total contribution amounting to Rs 7,40,70,060 will be spent for development of the schools.
It was decided at the meeting to undertake joint programme involving ‘Mo School’ campaign and Tata Trust in Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Rayagada districts. The secretary directed the officials to undertake programmes like starting libraries and skill enhancement of teachers.
The steps for further accelerating ‘Mo School’ campaign to connect with 5 lakh students by March 2021 was also discussed at the meeting.
