Bhubaneswar: The State Election Commission (SEC) on Thursday issued notification for conducting elections to panchayati raj institutions in the places where polling was postponed due to death of candidates.
As per the notification, the polling will be held at those places, where it was postponed, from 7 am to 1 pm on May 27. The aspiring candidates can filed nomination papers from April 29 to May 2.
Scrutiny of nominations will be held on May 4 and the final list of candidates released on May 5. The final list of candidates will be declared after withdrawal of nominations on May 7.
After the elections, the counting of votes will be conducted on May 28 and the result declared the same day. The SEC will release the list of winning candidates on May 31.
The candidates, who have already filed nominations, are not required to file the papers again, the announcement stated. With the announcement of the election date, the model code of conduct will remain in force from April 21 to May 28.
