Cuttack: As many as 15 tankers containing more than 250 tonne of medical oxygen have been despatched from Rourkela, Jajpur and Angul district in Odisha to different places outside the state in the last 24 hours.
Odisha Police has formed a dedicated corridor for prompt and unhindered movement of the tankers so as to service thousands of needy patients without any delay. The tankers have been despatched to Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad in Telengana, Indore in Madhya Pradesh and Pune, Mumbai and Nagpur in Maharashtra.
Based on the directive of chief minister Naveen Patnaik, a special cell was formed under YK Jethwa, ADG (L&O) as the nodal officer for coordinated action for loading and transportation of medical oxygen to states facing deficit, according to a release of Odisha Police State Headquarters.
District SsP/DCsP and Range DlsG/lsG/CP are supervising the movement personally within their jurisdictions.
On Friday, 2 tankers from Angul to Visakhapatnam and 2 tankers from Jajpur to Ghaziabad and Visakhapatnam were scheduled to be sent.
