Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Society of America (OSA)’ 50th convention was recently held at Atlantic City in USA.
More than 1,500 individuals attended the three-day socio-cultural event.
The convention showcased cultural talents from members in North America as well as accomplished performers from Odisha. The event was graced by legends like noted flautist Pandit Hari Prasad Chaurasia and Dr Bhagaban Prakash.
The event also welcomed four new executives for the next two-year term.
Kuku Das from California has been elected as the president, Dr Anil Patnaik from Ohio as vice president, Vivek Das from Michigan as secretary and Utkal Nayak from Maryland as treasurer.
Kuku Das informed the members about the team’s vision for the next two years. Synergy, Engagement and Empowerment are the team’s theme. The newly-elected president of the society emphasized on the importance of the continuing the initiatives of the previous executive committee.
The newly-elected president also shared the team’s vision regarding membership growth by providing value perspective.
The team is committed to work on an initiative that would provide legal support to newly-migrated Odias, help during emergencies, access to local chapters and the most needed support in terms of social connection. This initiative would make the students and immigrant workers aware of the OSA platform before coming to the US.
The team further elaborated the mode of operations through frequent communication via multiple channels, by leveraging technology, by presence thought modern social platforms.
