Bhubaneswar: A high alert was sounded in three districts of Odisha on Wednesday soon after Maoist attack claimed the lives of 11 people, including 10 policemen, in neighbouring Chhattisgarh.
Instruction has been issued to all the security personnel in the districts bordering Chhattisgarh to remain alert and cautious. A high alert has been issued for the three districts of Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur which share borders with Chhattisgarh, police said.
Police personnel have been asked to intensify patrolling, blocking and checking in these three districts to prevent any untoward incident, according to Director of Intelligence Sanjeeb Panda. Police in these three districts have been asked to maintain a close vigil.
Steps have also been initiated to intensify combing operations in different Maoist-affected districts of the state following the naxal attack in Chhattisgarh.
It may be noted here that Maoists triggered a blast and blew up the vehicle of the District Reserve Guards (DRG) with an improvised explosive device (IED) near Dantewada on Wednesday. Ten personnel of Chhattisgarh’s DRG and the driver of the vehicle were killed in the incident.
